My Story

Hi, I’m Ava, a Registered Masters level Social Worker and Psychotherapist that works with couples and individuals. I’m here to help people that want to pursue therapy to feel comfortable and understood—not judged or analyzed. Whether you’re navigating a rough patch in your relationship, have a strong relationship and yet want to connect more deeply or are struggling with your own relationship with yourself, I’m here to help you slow down, reflect, and move forward with more clarity and confidence.

I specialize in helping people make sense of their relationship patterns and challenges so they can feel more secure and fulfilled in how they connect with others. I work with clients and couples to process and repair ruptures, manage conflict more effectively, communicate in healthier ways, and ultimately build deeper, more meaningful connections in their relationships. I also help people to repair and process old wounds and ruptures that have resulted in resentment and turning away from one another. Individuals and couples also come to me for a place to consider and explore if a relationship can or should be worked on or whether they want to even try anymore. This can create a lot of turmoil and people benefit from a space to start to explore and receive support while they navigate and consider next steps.

Whether you're looking to find more connection with a loved one, manage a difficult family member, start to unpack your own family history as you become a parent yourself or understand why certain situations you hate keep repeating, we can work together to make sense of it. We’ll explore your reactions, those frustrating patterns you want to shift, and uncover what’s driving them. We’ll dive into your triggers, how they impact your nervous system and thinking patterns and from there, we’ll create a treatment plan that’s goal-specific, trackable, and achievable.

You’ll leave sessions with clarity, as my approach involves empowering individuals and couples to use concrete frameworks, techniques, and skills. Drawing from evidence-based training and years of experience, I tailor my approach to meet your unique needs, helping you apply what we work on directly into everyday life, so your time and investment in the process is worthwhile.

While I’m trained in a variety of practice approaches [Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Prolonged Exposure, Internal Family Systems, the Gottman Method for Couples, Relational Life Therapy and am trauma informed], "I don’t believe in hiding behind jargon or theory. Therapy with me is about real conversations, honest exploration, and helping you find a deeper sense of connection—with yourself and others. I believe therapy should meet you where you’re at, whether you’re new to the process or have been in therapy for years. If you’re still searching for the right fit or feel like something’s missing in your current work, I offer an alternative approach that may be exactly what you’re looking for. On the other hand, if you’ve been in therapy for a while and are wanting a fresh approach to work through long-standing issues, I can help you expand on that foundation and bring new insights into your personal or relational growth. My goal is to create a space that feels supportive, collaborative, and truly right for you.
